The Opportunity

As a Senior External Communications Officer you will be an important part of the wider marketing and communications team.

You will play a key role in shaping and delivering a broad range of communications content and activities that positively positions Arup with its intended stakeholders.  You will be part of a team focused on building, maintaining and protecting Arup’s reputation in support of strategic must win activity.

You’ll be working with a wide range of media, influencers, partner press offices and other institutions, planning and delivering integrated campaigns as well as managing reactive enquires.  From developing compelling thought leadership to speech writing to shaping a creative response to relevant breaking news, the role will require you to work on a wide variety of subject matter. In your day to day work you’ll have alignment to 2 – 3 portfolios as well as the geographies business partner and will work closely with senior marketing and comms business partners to identify stories to engage journalists, clients and other influential stakeholders across a variety of paid, earned and owned channels.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Have proven experience managing a wide range of external communications activities and content in the b2b space.
  • Have outstanding writing skills – able to write compelling copy for a range of audiences and channels including thought leadership articles, press releases, opinion pieces and quick fire commentary.
  • Have the ability to collaborate, build positive relationships and influence a broad range of stakeholders – from marketing, public affairs and vis comms colleagues to senior subject matter experts.
  • Have the ability to proactively identify and act on current news trends – know what journalists and clients want from a story and how we can provide unique insights.
  • Have a “finger on the pulse” in terms of the news agenda.
  • Have excellent time management and ability to prioritise between competing demands
