The Opportunity

As part of Arup's Building Services team, you will deliver HVAC design solutions for multidisciplinary projects across sectors such as Data Centres, Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Laboratories, and Mixed-Use Developments. You will support projects from concept to construction, ensuring high-quality technical delivery. The role involves coordinating with multiple disciplines, engaging with clients, and contributing to project success. Working under the guidance of project and technical leaders, you will take ownership of key design activities. You will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and BIM staff, and help deliver projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Lead HVAC design and technical delivery across all project stages, developing efficient engineering solutions and preparing high-quality design documentation. Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and BIM technicians while reviewing their work. Support client interactions, site inspections, commissioning activities, and sustainable building design initiatives. Collaborate with global Arup teams and contribute to project planning, resource coordination, and proposal preparation to ensure successful project delivery.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in HVAC and Building Services design
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design, engineering calculations, technical reports, and industry standards
  • Proficient in HVAC design software, BIM/Revit, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Ability to independently manage projects, mentor junior engineers, and lead technical delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to quality, sustainability, and safety; Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
