The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Chartered / Incorporated Principal Electrical Engineer.
Our team is looking to strengthen its project level leadership through the recruitment of an electrical engineering lead who can provide a combination of technical, project and business area leadership. They will hold specific multi-disciplinary technical leadership and management responsibilities within the Property business.

Our projects need to be part of the transition to net-zero carbon and increasingly we see electrical engineering sitting at the heart of how that transition can be achieved. We are looking for a candidate who currently acts as an electrical discipline lead who is looking to continue to deliver projects whilst developing into a technical specialist or leadership position.

You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative team of Engineers and Technicians, working flexibly from our London office. Our projects are global and will allow you to work with and succeed in an international, multi-cultural business environment with a strong focus on sustainability in all we do.

Responsibilities will include:

  • As a Principal Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the production of the electrical and MEP designs on your projects and as such will be accountable both to project leaders and the electrical discipline within the business, taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results. 
  • This will include:
  • Working under minimal supervision, you’ll understand when you need the support of those you work with to complete tasks and assignments
  • Leading the design development of electrical systems or sub-systems from concept design through construction whilst coordinating with other engineering disciplines and specialists. This will include the preparation of drawings, reports, specifications and calculations.
  • Coordinating the design analysis and working with the team to optimise systems
  • Support the organisation and leadership of technical resources to deliver project objectives
  • Support the development of the design programme
  • Representing the Electrical discipline at internal and external meetings
  • Developing others and supporting their development through guidance, training and feedback, with the opportunities to act as Line Manager.
  • In this role you will have the opportunity to act as Project Manager, responsible for the resourcing, commercial delivery and success of the project.

  • Has an inquisitive nature and desire to investigate and research new opportunities, ways of working and technologies that enhance our engineering offering
  • Is an enthusiastic Principal Engineer with the ability to form and nurture relationships with clients through good communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to delegate tasks to more junior members of the team
  • To act as a mentor to younger engineers spreading knowledge and support them as required
  • To act as an IET Mentor assisting younger engineers to obtain chartership
