The Opportunity
Arup’s Critical Systems Team is a global network of Architects, Engineers and Specialist Consultants working with the largest and most innovative businesses in the sector. Whilst many projects are Data Centre focussed there are lots of opportunities for involvement in other Critical Facility projects including Healthcare and life sciences.
Our clients include developers; enterprise users; edge; retail and wholesale colocation providers and all the major hyperscale cloud services providers.
Our London team delivers projects across the UK, Europe, India and Africa. Our unique delivery model of Engineered Architecture co-locates Arup’s Architects, Engineers and specialists as one project team which improves collaboration and coordination. In these highly serviced buildings, our Architects appreciate that the engineering must lead the design and the architecture follows the function - although there is room for design flair and innovation.
This is a very exciting role, for which we would expect the successful candidate to have eight years post graduate experience. We are looking for a candidate who currently acts as a electrical discipline lead and is looking to continue to deliver projects whilst developing into a technical specialist or leadership position with the support and mentoring of our large and expanding team over time. You will be given the support to develop a wide range of skills over different project types, locations and clients. This role can be as diverse as your ambitions dictate.
Remit:
- Working under minimal supervision, you’ll identify when you need the support of those you work with to complete tasks and assignments
- Leading the development of design for systems or sub-systems from concept through construction
- Coordinating the design analysis and working with the team to optimise systems
- Inputting to the production of models, drawings, reports and specifications
- Developing others and supporting their development through guidance, training and feedback
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
We’re looking for a candidate who:
- Is professionally registered with a relevant engineering institution
- Has a background in design of different electrical data centre topologies from a range of end clients
- Is familiar with Revit and has experience of: SCAFF calculations using ETAP power modelling software; Earthing studies / calculations utilising CDEGs software; protection device coordination studies; using Amtech Cable sizing software; authoring technical reports and feasibility studies; specifying main plant items (Switchboards / Generators / UPS)
