The Opportunity
- Hands on concept and detailed Electrical design for a range of projects by providing design calculations, drawings, and specifications, in a lead discipline engineer role.
- Lead or contribute to the design, development, and testing of electrical systems, components, or products. This may include circuit design, PCB layout, and system integration.
- Undertake technical reviews of MEP projects (and MEP team input provided to other projects) at appropriate stages to ensure that the project approach and deliverables are met.
- Assist in capability building of the Electrical team to effectively service the target markets in Malaysia as set out by the Group business plan.
- Facilitate and co-ordinate design activities, processes and other technical standards within the MEP team including the review and monitoring of technical standards in the team to ensure that design techniques, design review and check, reference material and software tools are up-to-date and are correctly applied.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with industry networks, clients, government agencies, sub-consultants, and construction contractors relevant to the MEP team’s activities.

Is this role right for you?
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or associated discipline, with Malaysia Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred
- At least 10 years of relevant Electrical design experience with an engineering consultancy and a demonstrated track record of delivering complex electrical services projects across teams within budgets and programme expectations.
- Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines – and Arup’s related procedures including OH&S.
- Proven relevant industry experience in data center and similar projects, within a consulting business environment including the ability to advise clients on cost-effective, sustainable solutions.
- Experience in managing key smaller and medium sized projects, including the supervision of multi-disciplinary project teams where appropriate.
- Experience in the effective technical supervision and development of less-experience team members.
- Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines.
