Watch this short clip to discover how Arup are shaping a better world and how you could be a part of it!

The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Engineer with excellent design, technical, and sustainability skills who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams. You will be able to demonstrate a background in the field of Electrical Engineering Systems for building services across a range of project stages, scales and building types and be able to take responsibility for packages of work and small scale projects to achieve outstanding results. You will join our creative and friendly Building Engineering team based in Cardiff. A team that seeks to set new standards in the built environment. Challenging orthodoxy will be instinctive to you. You will possess ambition on the Digital front and seek to lead its evolution in the built environment.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

In this role you will provide support to the MEP leadership team in the delivery on a portfolio of projects locally, nationally and internationally. You will be expected to demonstrate a background in taking responsibility for the delivery of packages of work on projects and be comfortable taking a more leading role in the successful delivery of the complete electrical design in small projects. You will be comfortable working under limited supervision and have skills in providing support and guidance to more junior members of the team. You will work across multiple projects with different design teams producing engineering designs, calculations and specifications, using appropriate technical software. You will also represent Arup and the electrical team in both internal and external collaborator meetings, and carry out site inspections during construction phase.

Requirements

We are looking for people who:

  • Are BSc qualified in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Have experience in supporting the delivery in a range of projects.
  • Experienced in a range of technical software including Revit, Amtech and Dialux.
  • Experienced in sustainable building design and in satisfying the regulatory and voluntary codes associated with sustainability and energy strategy.
  • Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects.
