Our California offices are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to focus on building decarbonization (this position can be located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland or Seattle.) The ideal candidate possesses strong building and portfolio/campus scale electrification and onsite electrical energy generation and storage experience to join a multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants focused on climate services that help clients with the impending pressures to decarbonize their building assets in response to the climate crisis. Whether at a building, campus, portfolio, or city scale, we are looking for people who combine design intelligence with the practicalities of getting as much out of existing assets as possible.


· Lead onsite due diligence and documentation work for asset assessment related to electrical systems, including support for energy audits, commissioning, retrocommissioning, code compliance upgrades, condition assessments and decarbonization roadmap development.

· Manage oversight of electrical capacity testing requests with owners to justify available capacity, including advising on new service requests as appropriate.

· Provide concept level calculation and design for decarbonization interventions in conjunction with the analysis team and other engineers to support electrification/ energy efficiency pricing packages

· Prepare simple explanatory diagrams that demonstrate extent of interventions, benefits and risk, cost benefit analysis, life cycle cost assessment and carbon emissions reduction for proposed interventions.

· Prepare single line diagrams for power distribution

· Perform load analysis for different energy conservation, lighting and lighting control upgrades, and electrification measures

· Prepare clear and concise recommendations reports that provide financial and carbon reduction justification for measures.

· Prepare basis of design reports that can be used within a bid package for a Design-Build contractor Request for Proposal.

· Conduct feasibility assessments and concept-level design documentation for onsite electrical energy generation and/or storage projects.

· Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects

· Participate in meetings with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues

· Review and monitor the quality of design and documentation tasks performed by others for successful delivery of project designs

· Lead the successful technical and financial delivery of projects

· Significantly contribute to RFP responses. Work with others in preparing proposals.


· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Architectural Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a sound knowledge of electrical fundamentals as they relate to building systems and their retrofits.

· 7-10 years of related experience

· Experience with due diligence audits, energy auditing, retrocommissioning and/or commissioning.

· Evidence of skills with on-site observation, documentation, diagnostic and assessment skills with a view towards improving energy efficiency.

· Experience in managing workload on multiple projects simultaneously, each of which may be at a different level of detail.

· PE license strongly preferred - or ability to obtain license within a year

· LEED AP BD+C and/or CEM (Certified Energy Manager) desirable

· Experience in Revit desirable


· Excellent in navigating existing building installations of various ages

· Strong interpersonal skills that quickly build trust with facilities personnel based on professional credibility, proactive listening, and friendliness.

· Strong detail orientation and ability to see trends and troubleshoot with limited information available, based on inherent knowledge, confidence, and expertise.

· Excellent writing skills to convey complex topics to layperson audience

· Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment · Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges

· Good communication skills essential for team-based working
