 About this career opportunity…

Based in Newcastle you will act as lead electrical engineer on projects, applying your engineering expertise to shape our projects. Additionally, you will play an active role in the development of our staff.  You will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects across several sectors, including data centres, commercial, residential, education, transport, energy, sport, health and mixed-use developments.

 In addition, you will make an impact in this role by…

  • Working in an interdisciplinary environment and aim to design buildings that maximise value for our clients whilst minimising their environmental impact
  • Playing a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital approach to design.
  • Liaising with clients, other design team members and contractors.
  • Mentoring junior Engineers and Technicians.
  • Being responsible for meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Operating in accordance with local quality assurance procedures.
  • Working on a broad range of project types, such as major national infrastructure projects, large commercial office developments, international sporting event buildings & infrastructure and data centres located around the world.
  • Delivering high quality, innovative design and specification work, requiring thorough knowledge and experience of the full range of project delivery including site supervision and inspections.
  • Contributing to the development of good practice within discipline through involvement with skills networks and team process improvement initiatives.
  • Being generally office based but with opportunities for local, national and international short-term travel.

 To achieve in this role, you are likely to…  

  • Be Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
  • Be a Chartered Engineer through CIBSE, IET or other relevant body.
  • Be committed to your own professional development and looking for stimulating work to develop your engineering skill.
  • Have a wide knowledge of design of electrical building systems including coordination, spatial planning and energy performance of buildings.
  • Have a keen and developing interest in sustainable building design
  • Be creative and inquisitive with an interest and awareness of building design beyond own discipline and the ability to integrate multi-disciplinary requirements into holistically coordinated solutions.
  • Have sound working knowledge of common electrical building services software (Amtech. Dialux, Relux)
  • Have sound or developing working knowledge of Revit MEP.
  • Have experience supervising and providing technical mentorship to Technicians and Junior engineers.
  • Have an interest in business development and strong commercial awareness
  • Be a team player with good organisational skills and proven success in leading teams
  • Be familiar with project management requirements and be keen to develop skills in this area, with an initial focus on the electrical discipline.
  • Have excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Be able to see tasks through to completion and able to prioritise, delegate and multi-task in an efficient manner.
  • Have excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Be willing to take on new challenges.
  • Be flexible in approach to work and its demands.
  • Be able to develop successful working relationships during project work with Clients, architects, contractors etc.
