At Arup, you’ll do more than work — you’ll shape a better world.

About this role
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified and passionate Senior Ecologist to play a pivotal role in shaping the development of the Arup ecology team in NSW. You will work on some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the State whilst working in the field, the office, and flexibly in line with our ‘work unbound’ flexible-work approach. In this role, you will provide ecological technical advice to our clients, and work with other passionate ecologists across the country to grow the ecology service offering.

What will I do?

  • Provide ecological technical advice to our clients and contribute to the development of the NSW ecology team.
  • Work independently or with others to complete ecological surveys in accordance with Government and scientific guidelines and be involved in report writing, data processing, analysis and GIS mapping.
  • Assist with the design and delivery of major road, rail, water and energy projects predominately in NSW/ACT, and support other locations across the Australasian region.
  • Monitor significant and complex activities or projects.  This will require you to be responsible for predicting and planning future resources.
  • Take a longer term strategic view of the business and contribute to the development plan of Arup.

What will I bring?

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • Significant relevant industry experience in a professional working environment, including state/local government and/or consulting.
  • Significant industry experience undertaking terrestrial or marine/aquatic ecology field work.
  • Accredited Assessor under the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM).
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicability of planning and biodiversity legislation and regulations in New South Wales and Australia, including the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
