This role as a Senior Design Manager will undertake leadership, planning and design services within the group in Malaysia and other regional offices in the Australasian region. This role involves providing project and design management to clients of Arup Malaysia.


The Opportunity

  • Provide overall leadership, design and project management for projects. Involve in resource coordination for the projects and pursuits and liaison with counterparts in other offices within the region for Science, Industry and Technology (SI&T) related projects or other as may be delegated from time to time.
  • Preparation of time-based budgets for projects and liaison with Project Managers and other Technical Leaders.
  • Input and involvement with Project Managers and other Technical Leaders with respect to developing scopes of work, contract conditions negotiating agreements with customers and suppliers and achievement of financial targets.
  • Provision and/or management of design and technical consultation in areas to complete design works.
  • Accountable for significant and complex activities or projects requiring prediction and planning for future resources.

Is this role right for you?

  • Recognized relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Architecture or similar area with relevant industry experience in managing multidisciplinary scopes for large projects within a consulting business environment.
  • Ability to undertake high level analysis and understands of ‘Customer’ needs (Both internal and external)
  • Intuitive (to client needs as well as the project context) and creative in developing win-win solutions.
  • Clear understanding of the need to consider occupational Health and Safety in all activities, including Safety in Design
  • Relevant and demonstrated industry experience in securing and delivery of design and construction projects.
