We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Insight team to work across our unique & wide-ranging portfolio of data projects. You will be expected to be the specialist within the team, focusing on building and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure. The role is focused on delivering data-driven solutions in collaboration with both internal and external clients.

As a Senior Data Engineer at Arup, you will:
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data analytics and reporting while optimising SQL and python scripts.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and clients to understand data requirements and translate them into realisable data propositions.
• Support and guide more junior team members in developing their careers and participate in Arup’s learning agenda
• Build collaborative and functional relationships with peers in technical, business leadership and business development roles to help grow the team's portfolio of projects.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about driving innovation, setting standards, and motivating adoption of best practices across a team of data engineers/scientists/analysts. You'll also need:
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Engineering, or related fields and five or more years of relevant industry experience, including significant demonstrable experience delivering data solutions.
• Significant experience with SQL and relational databases and experience creating stored procedures and functions.
• Proficient with one or more programming languages, including deep knowledge of Python, and ability to write structured and maintainable code.
• A deep understanding of relational and dimensional modelling methodologies and the ability to build data-driven solutions.
• Experience independently managing multiple projects, working with stakeholders to define business questions, timelines, and objectives.
• Experience in the following areas would be an advantage: Power BI and data visualisation, Databricks, Fabric, AWS.
