The Opportunity

You will play a central role in delivering major data centre and mission‑critical projects in Germany and across Europe. Working within an international, multidisciplinary environment, you will lead project delivery, coordinate teams and act as the client’s primary point of contact, ensuring projects are delivered to high quality, programme, budget and agreed objectives. 

The role focuses on managing time, cost, resources and interfaces, ensuring that projects are delivered in line with agreed objectives, while acting as the primary point of contact for the client on day-to-day project matters. 

As a Senior Project Manager - Data Centre at Arup, you will:

• Lead data centre projects from feasibility through planning, design, construction and handover
• Act as Project Lead, driving delivery strategy, programme and day‑to‑day execution
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, building trusted and effective relationships
• Develop and manage overall project and design programmes, milestones and dependencies
• Manage project budgets, resources and change, ensuring commercial and delivery control
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and interfaces across disciplines and stakeholders
• Manage and discuss design topics with clients, providing oversight and coordination rather than technical authorship
• Drive planning, permitting and approval processes, coordinating inputs from designers, specialists and authorities
• Proactively manage risks and opportunities to support successful project outcomes
• Champion safety, sustainability and long‑term value throughout project delivery

Does this role inspire you?

We are looking for someone passionate about sustainable data centre design and who possesses:

• Experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects, within technical sectors
• Strong project management and client‑facing experience, with responsibility for programme, budget and coordination
• Minimum of 10 years professional experience
• Good technical understanding to effectively challenge design discussions and support decision‑making
• Experience working within HOAI, RIBA or equivalent delivery frameworks
• Confident communicator with the ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders
• Degree in engineering, architecture, project management or related discipline 
• Fluent German and English
