Our work helps to optimise the performance of buildings to meet business needs, reducing operational cost and environmental impact whilst improving occupant wellbeing and productivity. We design Digital Building systems, including HVAC controls, BMS and IoT/Smart Building solutions, along with Commissioning and Validation services for new and existing buildings.

The Opportunity 

We have an opportunity for a Senior Controls Engineer to take an important role in the design and specification of HVAC/Controls projects and support continued upskilling of the controls team.  The BPS team offer an exciting working environment, delivering high quality innovative solutions for new build, refurbishment and post occupancy projects across several market sectors, including commercial, transport, financial, health and the arts.

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will managing your own BMS/Controls projects. In this role, you will lead HVAC controls, BMS, and IoT/Smart Building projects, working closely with Controls and Digital experts both within the team and across the broader Technology Group. You will evaluate and direct a range of HVAC/Digital Building Solution projects, drawing on your expert-level skills in HVAC/Controls design. You will have a developing interest in Buildings in Use, Energy Management, Building Performance Evaluation, and Post-Occupancy analysis.

A significant part of your role will involve working with clients to understand their technical requirements and translating these into effective project deliverables and technical specifications.


Is this role right for you?

We are seeking a Highly experienced BMS/Controls designer able to evaluate and lead all types of project relating to HVAC/Digital Building Solution related work. Expert level experience in designing and delivering HVAC/Controls design, with an interest in Buildings in Use, Energy Management, Building Performance Evaluation, Post Occupancy Evaluation and Health and Wellbeing in operational buildings.  It is critical for the person to have a ‘hands on’ and practical approach toward problem solving and delivery of Controls work.
You shall be an aspiring expert in your field. 

The BPS team fosters growth of the business/service through innovation, particularly in the areas of Post Occupancy Evaluation, feedback and building operation and Digital products and services. Consideration will be given to people who demonstrate an interest or desire to grow skills in these areas.

We are seeking the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualified Engineer, OR able to demonstrate skill in this field of engineering in a similar consultancy role or with a contractor/controls manufacturer.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide technical Controls design. The role requires communication at all levels.
  • Good people and technical project management skills.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Able to mentor/train less experienced staff.
  • Ensure compliance and health and safety is adhered to within team with regards to internal reporting and onsite presence.
  • Prepared to work away at times on project sites in the UK and overseas.
