Senior Consultant - Highways

Description:
Our infrastructure team is expanding with work in the highways sectors at both local and strategic levels.  Offering a “one-stop-shop” for clients, we also work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams to deliver transformation projects for our private and public sector clients. In particular, we are a lead supplier under the SPaTS framework, providing advisory services to National Highways including the development of DMRB Requirement and Advice Documents. We are recruiting for technically strong, experienced, and motivated consultants to join our infrastructure team.  

The Role:
You will be responsible for your own work (research, analysis, calculations, reports, etc) as part of our advisory team.  Self-checking your work and that of others to ensure compliance with local Arup Management System Assurance procedures. You will be required to manage small teams and projects, taking responsibility for delivering outstanding work and managing project finances. 

Other duties will include;
•    Demonstrate technical capability and experience in one or more areas such as highway operations, data analysis, data visualization, and report writing.
•    Working with advisory teams to support the delivery of projects.
•    Providing specific skills to develop, streamline and automate the digital aspects of our advisory services
•    Setting best practices and implementing methodologies to efficiently present complex and large data sets in a logical and analytical manner
•    Occasionally working with and from other offices.
•    Supporting the skills development and growth of the team.

To achieve in this role, you will have
•    Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
•    Experience in managing teams and projects.
•    Strong organizational and time management ability.
•    Ability to liaise with external parties, as primary contact may include clients and government agencies.
•    Practical knowledge and experience in delivery of capital and maintenance schemes in the highways sector. 

Desirable Skills and Knowledge
•    Experience in the delivery of highway projects from concept to construction and operation.
•    Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), PowerBI, and/or coding would be highly beneficial.
•    Knowledge and experience of the application of LEAN techniques.

Qualifications: 
•    Chartered civil / highway engineer 
•    Civil engineer with over five years’ post-graduation experience  
•    A management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2 would be advantageous
•    A qualification in data science/analysis would also be beneficial
