The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled strategic advisor to join our team in Dublin to help our clients manage their data as a critical enterprise asset. This role bridges the gap between data policy, business strategy, and day-to-day operations and is focused on defining how data is managed, enabling insights, and ensuring alignment with business goals, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
This role involves both strategic planning (Strategy) and implementation/oversight (Governance). The successful candidate will have demonstrable consultancy experience in both areas, and a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience working with a range of clients.
As a Senior Consultant - Data Advisory at Arup, you will:
- Develop comprehensive data strategies and roadmaps to ensure data initiatives directly support organizational objectives.
- Participate in activities to identify opportunities or challenges that can be addressed through data-driven solutions with new and/or existing clients.
- Consult with clients to understand their data governance needs and provide strategic solutions.
- Design and implement robust data governance frameworks, including defining clear policies, standards, and procedures for data across its entire lifecycle.
- Establish roles for data accountability and define clear RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) matrixes.
- Develop regulatory compliance roadmaps that ensure organisation data practices comply with external regulations and internal policies. Conduct risk assessments and design strategies to mitigate data breaches and privacy issues.
- Lead and contribute to tender responses and proposals to clients across industries.
- Manage budgets, timelines, scope, expectations, deliverables, etc.
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams and disciplines, building relationships and identifying opportunities for our clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas.

- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in data governance, data management, data strategy etc.
- 3+ years of professional experience in Consulting.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, information systems, engineering, business administration, economics or similar.
- Proven track record of scoping, designing, and implementing data governance solutions and frameworks.
- Understanding of compliance requirements and data governance regulations such as GDPR, AI Act etc.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
We also value:
- Experience with data quality assessment and improvement.
- Knowledge of emerging/sector-specific legislation e.g. Data Governance Act, Data Act, Open Data Directive, Digital Markets Act
- Understanding of public and private data governance challenges
- Data Governance or Data Management related certifications
- Familiarity with GIS and Business Intelligence tools and software.
- Knowledge of data architecture and data modelling.
