Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Our Adelaide Infrastructure team continues to grow, with securing some high-profile projects and being well positioned to win more. As a result we are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join our team, where you will be a key member, and with your previous experience in civil structures projects you will be able to provide guidance and mentorship to the team as well as project leadership. 

About you
As a successful candidate for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
•    Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering;
•    Significant industry experience in Civil Structures (bridge design) within a consulting business environment;
•    Experience developing successful client relationships
•    Experience leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects and developing less experienced engineers
•    Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership;
•    Practical experience of Structural analysis packages such as GSA/Strand/ SpaceGass.  Experience with SAM bridge analysis and design software would be advantageous. 
•    Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines
•    Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments;
•    Effective written communication and report writing skills;
•    Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines;
•    Desire to excel;
•    Keen understanding of “customer” needs (both internal and external) and creative in developing win-win solutions;
•    Clear understanding of the need to consider occupational Health and Safety in all activities, including Safety in Design

About the role
Based in Adelaide and reporting to the South Australian Civil Structures Team Leader, this role’s responsibilities include:
•    Accountability for significant and complex activities or projects.  This will require you to be responsible for predicting and planning future resources;
•    Taking a long-term strategic view of the business and contribute to the development plan of Arup;
•    Execution of responsibilities as outlined in Arup’s Quality Management System;
•    Responsibility for the performance and development of others in the team.  This would require you to provide guidance, training, motivation and direction to staff;
•    Setting budgets; as such you would be responsible for negotiating agreements with customers and suppliers in order to achieve financial targets.
•    Undertaking civil structural design for major projects and produce drawings and reports inline with structural specifications.
•    Working on small and medium sized projects, as well as being a key member of larger project groups.  This will include design, technical documentation, cost estimates, tender submissions, project scheduling and meeting deadlines and budgets.
