 Our award-winning global transaction advisory team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced consultant to deliver technical advisory assignments to support clients investing in energy-transition assets and companies. 

The Opportunity

 We are looking for client-oriented business-development skilled people with project development, process engineering, commercial or transaction experience on a range of technologies, including biomethane, bioethanol, green hydrogen production and distribution, and carbon capture and storage.

 The focus of due diligence work is to help evaluate potential investments by identifying and assessing technical, operational, commercial and reputational risks and opportunities.

As a Consultant at Arup, you will:

• Work on discrete projects, typically consisting of technical, ESG or commercial due diligence, to inform buyers or sellers of assets and companies in the energy transition space.
• Conduct wider advisory work to support clients navigating the energy transition, in accordance with the individual’s skillsets.

Other activities may include:

•  Lead the identification and development of business opportunities in biogas, biomethane, and advanced biofuels, combining technical insight with market intelligence.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders across the value chain: project developers, investors, utilities, and public agencies.
• Guide the preparation of high-impact proposals and service offerings, aligning technical feasibility with client needs and regulatory trends.
• Support the design and early development of innovative projects and services, ensuring technical soundness and business viability, with robust methodologies and approaches, combined with project management roles.
• Monitor sector trends, policy frameworks, and funding opportunities (e.g. EU, national schemes) to shape and position new initiatives.
• Act as a senior advisor within multidisciplinary teams, contributing both commercial vision and sector-specific expertise.

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for someone who is passionate about Energy transition advisory services. We also value:

•  Relevant engineering, chemical or environmental related degree, or equivalent experience with energy transition technologies.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in biogas, biomethane and other biofuels or green hydrogen generation or distribution.
• Experience in other European markets beside Spain will be particularly appreciated.
• Any prior experience of undertaking technical due diligence services on energy infrastructure assets. Candidates with commercial or transaction experience in these technologies will be prioritized. 
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Spanish, you have quantitative and analytical skills, and good knowledge of both Excel and PowerPoint.
