The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Acoustics Consultant with 5-10 years experience in building acoustics, sound insulation design, room acoustics and mechanical noise control.  The role is key to strengthening our Acoustics team, contributing technical excellence, developing business opportunities, and supporting the growth of junior team members as we continue expanding our capability and project portfolio. 

 

As a Senior Acoustics Engineer at Arup, you will:

  • Lead and deliver acoustic design packages across sectors such as buildings, mixed-use developments, hospitality, cultural venues and infrastructure 

  • Develop and review sound insulation strategies, including facade and internal partition design, airborne and impact noise mitigation and compliance with relevant standards 

  • Produce and validate room acoustic designs, including material selection, absorption/diffusion strategies and acoustic performance targets. 

  • Analyse and mitigate mechanical noise and vibration, coordinating closely with MEP engineers to ensure integrated and robust solutions. 

  • Provide clear, high-quality technical deliverables such as reports, modelling outputs, specifications and client presentations 

  • Actively contribute to business development, including identifying new opportunities, supporting bids and strengthening client relationships. 

  • Mentor, coach and support the development of junior consultants, contributing to their technical growth and to the creation of a strong, collaborative team culture. 

  • Support the day-to-day management of the team, collaborating with the leadership group in planning, quality reviews, workload organisation and capability development. 

 

 

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for someone who is passionate. You'll also need: 

  • 5-10 years' experience in Acoustics consultancy with competencies in building acoustics, room acoustics and mechanical noise and vibration control 

  • Strong technical background with experience using industry tools (e.g. acoustic simulation software, environmental noise modelling, ray-tracing tools etc) 

  • Proven ability to manage projects autonomously and to co-ordinate with multidisciplinary teams 

  • Business development mindset, with experience engaging clients, preparing proposals and contributing to growth strategies 

  • Demonstrated capability and motivation to train, mentor and support junior team members 

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 

  • Fluent in English and Spanish 

  • Experience in international projects or multidisciplinary environments 

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g building codes, environmental noise standards, sector-specific guidelines) 

  • Ability to bring complementary expertise to the current team (e.g. environmental acoustics, audio-auralisation workflows, vibration, soundscapes, advanced modelling, digital tools, etc
