The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is now available to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant to join the team supporting the UKIMEA & Europe Regions, reporting into the Regional Head of Financial Accounting (UKIMEA & Europe).

In this role, you will be part of the financial accounting team, based in London, responsible for the main trading entities registered in the UK, Middle East and Europe. You will prepare and perform a detailed review of financial statements and working files including statutory working papers, trial balances, reconciliations, year-end adjustments and variance analyses for the entities allocated to you and your team members.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Shared Service Centre reviewing reconciliations, addressing outstanding queries and recommending process improvements/internal controls. You will be expected to challenge current ways of working and encourage innovative ways of working across your area.

In this role you will be delivering the statutory Work-in-Progress tests to the auditors for some UK entities, with input throughout the review process from the business and have an appreciation of project contracts and be able to provide advice on treatment from a financial accounting perspective.

The Senior Accountant will answer external audit queries in a timely manner and be able to meet the deadlines set and prepare the financial statements and other relevant documents for issue to Corporate Directors for their review / approval and attend meetings to present the financial statements to them and be able to address their questions.

You will provide financial information to the business for bidding, contribute to technical accounting papers and prepare documentation of end-to-end processes. Ad hoc tasks include the review of Accounting Policies and Global Finance Vision projects involving the alignment of management accounts and financial accounts.

The role has responsibility for an assistant accountant and an accountant where you will coordinate, motivate, and inspire your direct reports by setting SMART objectives, holding 1-2-1’s, identifying development opportunities and encouraging career growth where applicable.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Are qualified Accountants (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with experience in financial reporting (IFRS) 
  • Have strong up to date technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, in particular IFRS15 and IFRS16.
  • Have an Accounting background with medium to large companies including consolidations.
  • Can effectively engage with different stakeholder groups and be able to maintain effective working relationships.
