Join our global Research team as our Research Administrator reporting to the Global Research Leader. In this essential role, you drive our culture of curiosity, innovation, and excellence by supporting the effective running of our Global Research Programme. You will set-up, coordinate and track our global research investments and research projects, and identify and implement opportunities to automate programme management. You will liaise with our researchers around the world and support and coordinate their engagement in the Research Programme, and to capture the value and impact of our research investments.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the adjudication and approval of numerous research proposals, while playing a key role in the daily management and tracking of research investments. You will monitor and support research projects and teams throughout their lifecycle, from project initiation and spend tracking to closeout and beyond. Additionally, you will be tasked with organizing and coordinating continuous value capture, administering Arup’s internal investment and research management systems, and identifying opportunities to improve and automate research management and value capture processes. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement these improvements. A service-oriented approach is essential, as you will engage with a wide range of global stakeholders, including research professionals and Arup leadership groups, to coordinate their involvement in the global research program. You will also work closely with Research Managers and Leaders to track project progress and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed, while organizing meetings and events for both internal and external collaborators and stakeholder groups.

  • A desire to gain programme management experience
  • Strong planning, analytical and organisational skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Comfortable communicating with all levels of managerial and operational staff
  • Excellent numeracy, writing and presentation skills
  • Organised team player willing to develop their role and support their team
  • Experience automating research, fund management, and value capture processes is desirable
  • Experience in, or a willingness to experiment with, the use of AI in research management is desirable
  • Fluidity in working across multiple time zones and global regions
