The Opportunity 

Our award-winning Business and Investor Advisory (BIA) team, recognised as the European Technical Advisor of the year for the last four years, is seeking a highly experienced Renewable Energy Transaction Associate Director. This pivotal role supports Arup’s ambitious growth strategy in the renewables sector, focusing on onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage, and hydro-power projects. You will play a key part in delivering market-leading advisory services to our institutional investor clients, collaborating with international colleagues, and driving the transition to a low-carbon future.

As a member of the BIA team, you will work alongside Arup’s global network of technical, commercial, and financial experts. You will collaborate with colleagues across Europe and internationally, sharing knowledge and integrating best practices to deliver outstanding results for our clients. Your leadership will help foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement. You will concentrate on key technologies and markets including Onshore and offshore wind projects, Solar power (photovoltaic and CSP),  Energy storage systems and Hydro-power developments. Your expertise will support clients making investment decisions in these technologies, from early-stage development through to asset management and divestment.

Is this role right for you?

You key responsibilities in this role are as follows:

Transaction Leadership: Leading and advising on complex project finance and M&A transactions in the renewable power sector, ensuring successful outcomes for clients and Arup.

Client Relationship Management: Developing and nurturing long-term relationships with institutional investors, understanding their needs and delivering tailors solutions. 

Work Winning: Proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities, contributing to the expansion of Arup's renewables advisory portfolio. 

Assignment Delivery: Oversee the execution of assignments from inception to completion, ensuring high-quality, timely deliverables that exceed client expectations. 

Mentoring & Leadership: Support the growth and development of team members by providing guidance, sharing expertise and fostering an inclusive environment.

Strategic Input: Contribute to the strategic direction of the BIA team and Arup's wider renewables business, sharing market insights and shaping service offerings.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in renewable power, including onshore/offshore wind, solar, battery storage and hydro-power. 

  • Demonstratable experience advising institutional investors on project finance and M&A transactions within the renewable industry. 

  • Hold a relevant chartered qualification (e.g.) CEng, MRICS, CFA or equivalent).

  • A background of team line management and developing high performance within teams. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
