Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

As a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex rail and infrastructure projects across the Philippines and the East Asia region. Leveraging your expertise in civil and structural engineering, you will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions. Based in our Manila office, you will also benefit from extensive railway engineering training delivered by Arup's global rail experts, further developing your technical capability and regional experience.

The Opportunity

  • Lead the design and engineering of civil and structural elements for rail and major infrastructure projects, ensuring technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports, while ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards and relevant design codes.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and regulatory authorities to deliver coordinated project outcomes.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide engineering support during design and construction phases to resolve technical challenges and maintain project quality.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers while contributing to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and the growth of Arup's rail engineering capability.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • A Civil or Structural Engineering degree with Professional Engineer registration or equivalent, and at least six years of experience delivering complex infrastructure projects within a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
  • Strong experience in infrastructure projects such as viaducts, bridges, railway stations or similar structures, with rail project experience considered highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Philippine and international engineering codes and standards, including NSCP, DPWH, ASCE, ACI, AISC, AASHTO, ASTM, BS and Eurocodes.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering and design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, ETABS and STAAD.Pro, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and a willingness to travel across the East Asia and Southeast Asia region for project delivery and professional development.
