The Opportunity

Join Arup’s growing Project & Commercial Management (PCM) team in Cork, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cost and commercial advisory across Ireland. As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll help lead a dynamic, multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-impact infrastructure and building projects that prioritise sustainability, value, and innovation.

This is a chance to influence how we deliver commercial excellence, from mentoring junior colleagues and refining procurement strategies, to driving whole-life value and embedding behavioural best practice into day-to-day operations. You’ll be part of a team that’s not only expanding in size, but also in ambition with opportunities to contribute to strategic growth, thought leadership, and the evolution of Arup’s commercial capability.

As a Quantity Surveyor at Arup, you will:

• Prepare and contribute to cost estimates, cost plans, and tender documentation across predominantly civil infrastructure and building projects, supporting robust budgeting and procurement decisions.

• Support procurement and contract administration activities, including tender preparation, review of contractor submissions, measurement of works, and assessment of valuations.

• Contribute to cost control and commercial reporting, including cost updates, forecasts, and financial summaries that support effective project delivery.

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders throughout different project stages, attending meetings, site visits, and workshops to help align commercial input with project needs.

• Apply and develop knowledge of construction contracts (e.g. NEC, Irish Public Works Contracts, FIDIC) while producing high-quality commercial outputs and maintaining accurate project records.

Does this role inspire you?

We’re looking for someone with an eye for details. We also value:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience in Civil Infrastructure Quantity Surveying (Buildings and MEP is a plus), with good working knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contract administration across project delivery.

• Able to apply sound technical and commercial judgement, with strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communicator and team contributor, comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams and supporting successful project outcomes.
• Proficient in MS Office and familiar with estimating tools such as CostX or CostOS
