The Opportunity

A role in the Procurement and Cost management team will include liaising with other multi-disciplinary contributors within Arup for the successful outcome of real-world projects.  You will be required to deliver projects to the required technical standards in a timely manner, reporting to the team leader or project manager as appropriate.

As a Quantity Surveyor at Arup, you will:

  • Prepare Cost Estimates from feasibility stage through to detailed design
  • Prepare pricing documents including bills of quantities to a method of measurement (TII, ARM, CESMM);
  • Work in a supportive and collaborative environment
  • Routinely communicate and co-ordinate with other Arup disciplines
  • Undertake Tender Reviews: Including assessing and analysing tender documentation to ensure compliance with the tender 
  • Contract Analysis: 
    • Examine contract documents to identify project requirements and specifications.
    • Contract administration and post contract commercial support
  • Project Management: Work on a variety of project types, ensuring that all tasks are completed within deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Knowledge sharing and supporting the learning and development of others

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator.
  • Level 8 Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Working knowledge of TII Method of Measurement, ARM4, CESMM4 or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products and construction industry estimating software such as CostOS and CostX;
  • Working Contract Administration knowledge of Public Works Contracts, NEC4 contracts or equivalent
  • Possess a thorough understanding of cost and value management principles
  • High degree of accuracy in executing work
  • Effective written English communication and report writing skills.

  • Working towards professional membership of the SCSI (MSCSI) and/or Chartered member of the RICS (MRICS) or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments.
  • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently
  • Good planning, organisational and time management skills
