Project Director - Civil & Water

Primary Focus:
The Project Director's primary focus is to:
- Lead water infrastructure projects in the feasibility, design, procurement and construction phases of delivery.
- Develop bid plans and points of differentiation and lead/input to bids for all forms of water infrastructure projects.
- Manage project teams and support the line management of staff.
- Act as a technical expert on relevant projects.
- Manage client interfaces, developing strong relationships with contractors, clients and stakeholders.
- Manage contracts, acting as PD under the Contract, and manage Arup’s contract with clients.
- Strengthen Arup’s presence in the coastal, water utility, flooding, urban drainage and nature based solutions markets around Singapore and
- SEA through targeted support of our existing strategy in those areas.
The Opportunity:
- Responsible for leading coastal, water, waste/used water/water infrastructure projects, or technical areas within wider projects.
- Will act as a technical specialist resource on relevant projects.
- Responsible for managing time and ensuring work quality in our delivery and maintaining at the expected standard
- Identify opportunities and pipelines, support and lead bids.
- Accountable for key client relationships and representing Arup’s water business in relevant client meetings.
- Build and develop new skills to develop our water design work in Singapore and researching/ developing novel technical solutions.
- Contribute to the recruitment, appraisals, performance development, morale and motivation of our staff
- Supporting the firm’s compliance in maintaining ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirement.
Is this role right for you?
- Relevant Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering or equivalent
- At least 15 years professional experience.
- Licensed or professional qualification in relevant location and discipline.
- Demonstrated evidence of having led or held a key leadership role on water infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated commercial experience with project management and forms of contract.
- Proven experience in a consulting environment.
- Proven experience in developing teams.
- Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated project delivery and management experience in Singapore and Asia.
- Thorough appreciation of and experience in a wide range of coastal, water, used water, flood, drainage and surface water projects over multiple stages of the project lifecycle.
- Experience in specific technical areas such as hydraulics, civil engineer, structural engineer, process engineering, procurement or contract management.
- Experience in implementing best practice project delivery processes, standards, and workflows
