We are currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join our team Toronto office team working on a variety of large scale infrastructure projects.
The focus of this role is to provide strong commercial support to project managers, directors and business administrators in the areas of financial management, general commercial support, contract administration, sub consultant management and bid support.
The opportunity
- Assist the Commercial Manager and Project Manager in implementation of project specific cost control processes to ensure project profitability and other commercial goals are met.
- Assist in budget estimation, forecast and resource planning.
- Use of financial system to monitor financial performance, project costs and other performance parameters.
- Track actuals cost against budgets, conduct variance analyses, carry out reporting of project financial performance and respond to queries from project teams on performance issues.
- Assist in monitoring and managing scope changes; maintaining change and risk registers, preparing fee proposals and contract change orders.
- Comfortable in preparation and issuing of monthly client invoices and monitoring accounts receivable.
- Collection, collation and review of timesheets of project team members.
- Preparation of various monthly client reports.
- Commercial management of sub consultants including preparation of sub consultant agreements, tracking costs, and reviewing invoices and payments.

Is this role right for you?
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering design or construction industry.
- General knowledge of commercial management and experience in contractual matters preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively and manage deadlines; highly organized.
- Strong analytical skills related to data and able to tell a story tailored to the audience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
- Proactive, willingness to take on additional responsibilities without having to be assigned.
- The capability to operate autonomously while effectively seeking and utilizing appropriate review and support.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, data analysis, formulas, VBA macros, PowerQuery and spreadsheet design.
- Experience in PowerBI for report preparation is required.
- Experience in Earned Value Management reporting is preferred.
- Experience in PowerPoint for report preparation desirable.
- Experience with Power Automate, PowerApps is desirable.
- Experience in sub-consultant cost management is preferred
- French language skills would be an asset.

Toronto Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $88,350 to $103,950 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
