The Opportunity

We are seeking a Principal EIA Consultant to work within our Environmental Consulting business delivering EIAs across the UK, primarily for energy projects.  Ideally the candidate will be based in the Yorkshire/ Humber/ Teesside area to enable close working with key members of the energy consenting team. You will deliver impact assessments for projects at all levels, including major national infrastructure, with a focus on the energy sector and in particular the solar sector.  Clients will include private developers, public sector authorities and other organisations.  You will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment alongside other environmental, planning, engineering and design specialists, and will work closely with technical disciplines (both internal and external to Arup) to deliver high quality environmental consultancy services.

 We require someone with existing environmental consultancy experience.  Project management and experience of the Development Consent Order application process.

Your remit will be to undertake technical work as well as assist with project management, proposal preparation and marketing activities.  This will include:

  • Delivering environmental      impact assessment projects – this will involve managing the assessment      process and technical teams and reviewing all technical inputs.
  • Undertaking environmental      and sustainability appraisals

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Have Environmental impact assessment (EIA)  experience.
  • Energy, solar and DCO experience preferred.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable working on multiple tasks and projects at any one time.
  • Have a proven ability to project manage environmental projects, successfully managing teams of technical specialists and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Be chartered or close to achieving chartership.
