The Opportunity

Arup are one of the leading advisers on PPP projects across the world. We have been voted Best Infrastructure Technical Adviser of the Year numerous times in the PPP Partnership Awards and the IJ Global Awards. It is recognition of Arup’s ability to provide advice to investors in complex infrastructure transactions using its combined technical and commercial understanding.

Our UK team are internationally recognised experts in the PPP technical advisory field and bring together knowledge and examples of best PPP practice from around the Globe. From the UK our current portfolio includes projects in countries such as the UK, France, Ireland, Portugal, Greece, Turkiye, Hungary, Norway, Germany, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Canada. We are looking for people to join this successful team and to help expand our project base. This could be working with lenders, government organisations or for concessionaires (SPV etc.) on predominately Transport PPP projects but we have recently had success in other disciplines such as civil buildings and water projects.

The individual should have previous experience of PPP contracts. They will hold responsibilities of a project manager (or may work alongside/for other PMs on tasks) on client liaison, managing specialist technical input and delivering project outputs such as Due Diligence reports, PPP Feasibility reports and advice notes. The individual may also act as a technical specialist in relevant areas. In addition, experience in business development and work winning would also be advantageous.

Is this a role for you?

  • Taking a lead role on Lenders’ Technical Advisor, Government Technical Advisor or Concessionaire engagements.

  • Providing technical advice on major PPP infrastructure projects supported by technical specialists within Arup and providing Due Diligence and technical advice reports to lenders and their legal and financial advisors.

  • Responsibility for providing technical input and advice to a range of clients and for producing project deliverables in accordance with our engagement.

  • Working across different teams in Arup and mentoring and supporting team members.

  • Assisting with and preparing bids for new work.

  • Client relationship and Arup PM tasks including invoicing.

Requirements and skills:

  • Preferably professionally qualified with typically more than 10 years’ professional experience on infrastructure projects.

  •  Knowledge of all stages of infrastructure projects including operation and maintenance as demonstrable technical knowledge across a range of disciplines.

The individual should have a proven track record of providing technical advice to Clients on major infrastructure projects and have knowledge and experience of the following areas:

  •  Project Management & Transport infrastructure design/scheme development.

  • Construction contracts.

  • Infrastructure maintenance activities.

  •  Performance-based payment mechanisms; Asset management.

  • Due Diligence reporting and Feasibility reporting.

  •  Procurement processes.

Experience of liaising with, and co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams would be expected. Practical experience of operation and maintenance procedures would be viewed as an advantage. The Ability to speak a second language is of interest as is being self-motivated, enthusiastic and interested in self and team development.
