Our Texas Offices (Houston, Dallas) are looking to add a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to our multi-disciplinary buildings engineering team. We work on a wide range of projects including data centers, hospitals, theaters, laboratories, and commercial. We unite a global network of inventive and highly skilled building engineers and design specialists to help solve some of our client’s toughest issues. Our aim is to Shape a Better world and we are looking for engineers and designers who are passionate about great design and sustainability.

 

Responsibilities

  • Working on Plumbing and Fire Protection engineering design for projects such as Hospitals, Data Centers, Laboratories, Academic, Arts & Cultural, Airports, and Commercial
  • Preparing and reviewing drawings and specifications detailing the design
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and working in conjunction with project managers
  • Attending client meetings and interacting directly with clients
  • Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
  • Presenting technical material in traditional and innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Understanding trends and standard methodologies in the industry
  • Participating in local Professional Associations

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Sanitary, Environmental, or Architectural Engineering
  • Certified Plumbing Designer “CPD” – ASPE
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist “CFPS” – NFPA
  • 4 or more years of experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Familiarity with codes and standards, specifically IPC, UPC, CPC, ASPE standards, LEED water efficiency, and NFPA
  • Experience doing plumbing and fire protection engineering from conceptual design through construction administration
  • Experience with 3D BIM software such as Revit MEP
  • Experience with load analysis software for calculations
  • Leading small to medium size projects from a plumbing and fire protection design perspective
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

 

  • EIT/FE
  • LEED Accreditation
  • ASSE 6005 Certified Medical Gas System Specialist – ASSE International
  • Experience working in Navisworks/AutoSprink RVT for Building Information Modeling (BIM) design, Hass, SprinkCAD, or Hydracalc
