The Opportunity

Manage a team of passionate BIM technicians and engineers and help us revolutionize sustainable building design in a thriving local and international market. Collaborate in innovation in low-carbon building services and contribute to projects that directly address climate change challenges. As an MEP BIM Leader at Arup, you will:

Early-Stage BIM Management responsibilities:

  • Develop and present our multi-discipline BIM Strategies to clients.

  • Provide input to the Revit BIM resources in new Project BIDs including Reviewing BIM scope of services, reviewing EIRs and preparing pre-appointment BEPs and associated documents.

  • Lead recruitment initiatives, ensure BIM staff are being hired in the MEP team to meet project demands.

  • Attend project inception meetings and organise project BIM kick-off meetings.

  • Prepare Pre and post appointments BEPs for design stage.

  • Develop or inputting into scoping documents (EIR or BEP) for contractors/sub-contractors.

  • Review BIM requirements in MEP specifications and how they align with tender requirements (EIR).

  • Attend client meetings when BIM issues appear on projects and representing Arup's interests.

BIM Technical Project Support and Training

  • Organise BIM technical training for MEP engineers and technicians, developing training as needed.

  • Ensure staff working in models have correct training and experience.

  • Conduct BIM team staff appraisals and collate into training plan for year ahead.

  • Engage with Project Managers and communicate the value for teams to follow BIM processes, enforce where necessary.

  • Training senior staff on BIM processes and standards.

  • Promoting Revit and the Arup Global Revit standard usage in MEP team.

Model setup / BIM Coordination / Virtual BIM Design reviews

  • Ensure discipline BIM models are setting up correctly.

  • Setting up Autodesk Construction Cloud for internal BIM model creation.

  • Generating deliverables lists (TIPDs).

  • Promote, organise and chair virtual design model reviews.

  • Develop model federation strategies and clash prevention strategies.

  • Setting up & maintaining federated models using Navisworks, Solibri, Revitzo, BIM Collab or ACC/BIM for issue management processes & clash reports.

  • Carrying out internal model reviews, collision checks and functional checks, across all internal disciplines.

  • Promote client engagement and quality with VR experiences.

 

Does this role inspire you?

We're looking for a highly motivated and technically proficient individual with a passion for sustainable building design. These are the essential skills and qualifications for the position:

  • Third level qualification in relevant fields, preferable Level 7 or  Level 8 (or equivalent) Degree in Degree in BIM Management, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 12-15 years post qualification experience in BIM Manager/Leadership role in Building Services, most of which will be gained within a design consultancy environment.

  • NSAI, BSI or BRE certification and accrediation desireable.

  • Knowledge of BIM processes for information management in line with BS/PAS1192 and ISO19650-1/2.

We also value:

  • Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.

  • Experience working in the Irish market.

  • Excellent communication and report writing.

  • Experience in management of teams.
