'My name is Richard and I work in the Leeds office as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. My role is split between traditional engineering and software development - this means that sometimes I am managing a team of software developers to build crash test simulation software and in the same week I might be designing a green hydrogen energy scheme. One of the best things I love about my job is the variety of work that I get involved with - I have just returned from a secondment to a water company! I work with so many different people from around the world that I get to learn loads about different cultures and careers which I find so insightful. At Arup, your role can be quite flexible, this means that if you are passionate about working on a certain type of project then you are often encouraged to pursue it which is why I can recommend working here to anyone!'
