The Opportunity
Design of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection services within the built environment with an emphasis on sustainable design
Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for sophisticated buildings
Perform engineering analysis and modelling, including whole building load calculations and energy analysis, facade thermal analysis, and airflow modelling
Model mechanical pipework, ductwork, and plant within Revit MEP, and carry out engineering calculations and analysis
Communicate technical ideas to a broad range of audiences using various formats, including presentations and workshops
Write reports detailing calculation methods and results, design assumptions, and other technical information
The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and outstanding organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment
Influence with design on sustainable outcome for our clients to align with Arup’s sustainability commitments
Attending site for design or construction reviews
Is this role right for you?
Pursuing bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Architectural Engineering, Building Sciences, or another related engineering degree
Developing curiosity about the built environment
Demonstrated time management skills
Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
Demeanor of taking initiative, passion, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and creativity
Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed for team-based working
Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
Preferred:
Eligible to become a member of the PEO/OIQ /APEGA
Technical report writing skills in relation to engineering analysis, feasibility, and optioning for design approached
Curiosity about sustainable building design
Internship experience in engineering firm
University course experience in heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid dynamics or HVAC design
Coursework in Energy/thermal modeling experience, Revit, or 3D modeling experience and/or sustainability
Computer programming languages (e.g., Dynamo, Python, Grasshopper)

Toronto Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $21 to $38 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
