The Opportunity
In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. The Marketing and Communications Manager has a pivotal role dedicated to building and enhancing our success in the local market/s. Key responsibilities of this role include:
Marketing and Communications Management
- Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications plans, campaigns and initiatives to enhance Arup’s brand and reputation in the local market/s, including business/client events, media relations activities, thought leadership and awards.
- Monitor and analyse local market trends to identify opportunities for brand positioning and competitive advantage.
- Secure and promote prestigious industry recognition to contribute to brand building efforts.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives including ROI.
Industry Engagement and Stakeholder Relationships
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders.
- Identify, pursue and negotiate opportunities for industry partnerships and collaborations.
- Critically assess and manage industry engagement activities for alignment to strategy and business priorities, and to optimise ROI.
Client Focus and Business Development
- Drive business development and client engagement initiatives that deliver successful work winning outcomes in the local market/s. Including client marketing campaigns, engagement events, collaterals and promotions.
Align marketing and communications activities and investments to support work-winning efforts.
- Support use of client systems.

Is this role right for you?
Knowledge and experience:
Undergraduate or further degree in marketing, communications or commerce and/or postgraduate professional qualification in marketing.
- At least 8 years’ experience in a senior marketing, communications, and/or business development role within a services, B2B or B2G industry with complex procurement and long sales cycles. Experience across a range of marketing and communications disciplines including event management.
- Demonstrated experience in building trusted, influential relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in building, managing and reporting on marketing budgets and return on marketing investment.
Skills and attributes
- Strong skills in strategic thinking and analysis and problem-solving.
- Commercial literacy, budget development and management.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Marketo and CRM tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adaptable to changing requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working within a matrix organization structure.
- Able to build strong and highly collaborative working relationships with peers, leaders and other stakeholders.
High level of personal integrity, professionalism, and inclusive leadership.
- Commitment to exemplifying Arup’s aims, particularly those of being a ‘humane organization’, maintaining ‘quality of work’, and ‘straight and honorable dealings’.
