Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
Are you ready to lead the future of sustainable maritime infrastructure development in Southeast Asia? Arup is seeking a visionary SEA Maritime Leader to drive strategic growth, foster client relationships, and position Arup as a global leader in integrated port and maritime solutions. This is a unique opportunity to shape market direction and deliver excellence across multidisciplinary teams.
We have been active in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Region for more than 45 years, and have over 6,500 staff based in over 30 offices across the broader APAC region. We see significant growth in the ports and maritime sector in SEA to support the increasing demand for waterborne transport, waterfront development, and coastal resilience and adaptation. This is an exciting role to lead Arup’s growing Maritime business in SEA, building on our established track record in the region delivering impactful projects such as the Singapore Integrated Cruise and Ferry Terminal.

The Opportunity

•    Lead the development and execution of a strategic maritime market plan for SEA, identifying priority clients, key pursuits, and growth opportunities aligned with Arup’s global vision.
•    Drive business development and project success by overseeing pursuit and bid activity, collaborating closely with Country Leaders and Client Relationship Managers to secure and deliver impactful work.
•    Build and nurture strong client relationships, including with government and industry stakeholders, to position Arup as a trusted advisor and leader in sustainable maritime solutions.
•    Champion a culture of excellence and integration, connecting Arup’s multidisciplinary expertise to deliver seamless, high-quality services that exceed client expectations.
•    Support team capability and growth, identifying resourcing needs, fostering client engagement among staff, and enabling professional development through training and mentorship.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

•    Extensive maritime experience with over 20 years delivering port and maritime projects across all stages—from feasibility to construction.
•    Deep understanding of the SEA market, backed by over 5 years of experience in the region’s engineering and design consulting sector.
•    Proven leadership in strategy and delivery, including market planning, client targeting, and budget oversight.
•    Strong maritime industry presence, demonstrated through active involvement in professional bodies like PIANC and participation in key conferences.
•    Effective team leadership, with a track record of building high-performing, multidisciplinary teams and supporting their growth through recruitment and development.
