About this role

Do you find purpose in influencing the full project lifecycle? As the Major Projects and Construction Interface Leader, you will use your diversity of experience to have impact across many of our businesses and markets.  Every day you will have the opportunity to focus on NSW and have the ability and presence in the market to bring benefit at a regional level for the company. 

What will I do?

  • Extend Arup’s services through the provision of inhouse construction, constructability, HSiD and value engineering advice across all stages of the project lifecycle, developing internal capability and capacity (through training and mentoring) and providing continuity between projects with continual improvement and development.
  • Proactive management of design risk across the portfolio of detailed design and reference design projects, through robust planning of our services with the end product in mind and critical review of our project outputs through a contractor’s lens
  • Lead construction phase activities (ongoing design advice, certification, independent review etc) and provide subject matter expertise to projects 
  • Lead major complex multidisciplinary engagements at Project Director or Design Director / Manager level and driving the success of project leveraging broader capabilities in the given market sector
  • Assist in the diversification and shifting of our pipeline in the design space toward more sustainable / reliance focused projects and markets through bidding and procuring work

What will I bring?

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or similar discipline, as well as chartered membership or equivalent or willingness to gain chartered membership
  • Demonstrated track record bringing wide and varied experience in market, with a preference on major transport oriented projects, but experience in markets such as water and energy are also desirable
  • Strong trusted-advisor relationships with existing clients and collaborators, particularly in the NSW market
  • Demonstrated commercial skills to gain favourable contractual and commercial terms with clients/partners as well as the ability to minimise costs and risks in order to maximise income gained
  • Demonstrated ability to build diverse teams with various skills and personalities as well as take responsibility for team performance and mentoring.
