The Opportunity 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Specialist to join a passionate team which is striving to shape Arup’s Learning culture and make a lasting impact on organisational development. Working with diverse audiences, you will support the development and implementation of impactful Learning solutions that empower our members across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, to develop new skills and thrive in their roles.  This critical role focuses on diagnosing, designing, delivering, and evaluating local and global learning initiatives to help us deliver Total Design to our clients – enabling our members to deliver on our strategic goals; to create safe, resilient and regenerative places that enable current and future generations to thrive.

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in Learning & Development practices, with experience in a range of learning methodologies. They will have a solid understanding of adult Learning principles and be comfortable working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to design, organise and track Learning solutions, and collaborate with diverse, global teams. As a life-long learner, the successful candidate will have a natural curiosity for emerging Learning trends and technologies, seeking out opportunities to expand our collective knowledge and bring fresh ideas to the table to ensure our Learning programmes remain innovative and effective.

Working within Arup University Group, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary experts across the world. This is a role with a significant opportunity to help shape Arup’s standards of excellence, and engage widely with our membership.  Reporting directly to the AU Learning Leadership, you will be responsible for the quality and successful implementation of all Learning solutions delivered in your part of the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Planning, management and coordination of virtual training, online learning and face to face initiatives for Arup members in the APAC region.

  • Supporting the development of a learning plan for the APAC region, to include the implementation of global learning solutions, and the development of local learning solutions

  • Supporting the diagnosis and identification of business needs and learning solutions within the APAC region.

  • Design and development of learning solutions (learning outcomes, activities, self-guided learning, resources, etc.) in collaboration with key stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and external partners

  • Champion innovation by exploring new tools, platforms, and methodologies that enhance learner experience and accessibility

  • Building relationships with SMEs to deliver excellence at every stage of the learning lifecycle

  • Reviewing and adapting existing learning solutions and best practices within the geography, where appropriate, with an understanding of the broader global learning offer

  • Delivery and facilitation of training sessions (face to face, virtual, online) for various audiences.

  • Project Management (resources, budget, organisation and logistics of learning activities)

  • Managing participants (recruitment, engagement and achievement) and tracking through Arup’s Learning Management System, Moodle

  • Managing communications with all and external stakeholders (participants, facilitators, suppliers (hotels, rooms, transport, catering), support teams (facilities, administrative)

  • Developing appropriate methods of evaluation to demonstrate the effectiveness of learning solutions and the return on the firm’s investment

  • Using data and insights (including LMS reporting, surveys, and Power BI dashboards) to identify trends, demonstrate value, and inform continuous improvement

  • Actively contributing to team activities and collaborating with the wider Arup University Learning members promoting a One Team culture

  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives to build a connected learning culture across APAC, and globally

  • Maintaining own CPD in the areas of learning trends, technologies, and innovations.

Is this role right for you?  If so, you will have:

  • Proven ability to work across all aspects of the learning lifecycle (e.g. needs analysis, design and development, delivery, assessment & evaluation)
  • Experience in the delivery and facilitation of training, workshops, lunchtime talks
  • Experience in regional and/or global roles in corporate environments
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral communication skills in English)
  • Advanced stakeholder management, relationship building, and influencing skills, including experience working with geographically dispersed and senior stakeholders
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, pay close attention to detail, and work collaboratively with others
  • Experience implementing different learning methodologies and technologies – and an ability to select the most appropriate solutions and tools
  • Ability to work with external partners, academic institutions, consultants, and facilitators
  • Recognised qualification in Adult Education / Workplace Training
  • A data-driven mindset, with the ability to use analytics and insights (e.g. Power BI, LMS reporting) to measure impact, evaluate effectiveness, and inform continuous improvement.
  • An interest in digital tools ideally with experience using video editing tools, Moodle or another online training platforms (LMS - Learning Management System)
  • Proactivity, commitment, flexibility, teamwork, detail and quality orientation and discretion
  • Curiosity about emerging Learning trends and technologies, commitment to lifelong learning

NOTE: This role requires flexibility to work outside standard hours due to the global nature of the position. Minimum of three days a week in the office, and two days working from home.
