The Opportunity

In an increasingly spirited marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to hire an Internal and Leadership Communications Lead to strengthen our MCBD function.

The Role

This person is accountable for developing and executing firmwide internal communications and global management communications to foster engagement, transparency and alignment across Arup. This role works closely with Regional MCBD Heads to develop and deliver internal communications, and the Head of Corporate Communications and Chief of Staff on management communications.

The role involves developing and implementing an internal communications strategy to strengthen employee engagement and ensure clear, consistent, and effective messaging across the firm. It requires identifying key communication priorities to promote organizational change and growth, and collaborating with global management to craft authentic messages aligned with the firm’s strategic values. The position also entails working closely with various global functions to create compelling internal content that enhances engagement and is delivered in a timely manner.

Managing internal communication channels and overseeing projects from inception to completion are key assignments, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget. The role includes partnering with Media Relations and Crisis Communications guides on crisis messaging, establishing metrics to assess communication effectiveness, and conducting regular investigations to evaluate impact and engagement. Additionally, the role steers a team of internal communications specialists, fostering their ongoing professional development.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, allocate, and unite our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is This Role Right For You?

We are interested in speaking with people who have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Senior level internal communications, corporate communications, or a similar role.
  • Certification or accreditation from a recognized professional body in communications, or public relations is highly desirable
  • Has worked in developing and executing internal communication strategies.
  • Has used digital communication tools and platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. English as a first language is not a requirement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to test and influence for the right outcomes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Dedication to exemplifying Arup’s aims through work and behaviour, particularly those of being a ‘humane organisation’, maintaining ‘quality of work’, and ‘straight and honourable dealings’
