See it differently - Early Careers at Arup

See it differently

You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.

Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates and students who help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

The Opportunity

We have a wide portfolio of exciting UK and International projects working in the transport, energy and water sectors. Our clients include Government Agencies, Local Authorities, Contractors and Developers. We undertake every aspect of bridge design, assessment management and construction planning from architectural pedestrian bridges through to long span cable supported bridges on projects such as the Keel Crossing, Gull Wing Bridge, Francis Scott Key Bridge and High Speed 2. We also undertake the design and construction planning of metro underground stations, tunnel shafts and portals, cut and cover tunnels and underground pumping stations. Arup London Bridges and Civil Structures team affords opportunities to directly influence and solve a range of challenging problems in a diverse range of environments.

From your first day, you'll join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported. You will be assigned to work on a project under the direction of a Senior Engineer who will assign design tasks to you and support you; we will teach you the software and tools that we have developed and provide you with opportunities to showcase your talent.

As the industry rapidly transforms using digital technology, we aim to be the leading digital consultancy in the built environment. In Bridges and Civil Structures, this entails us being at the cutting edge in the use of technology such as agentic AI, automation tools, coding, databases and data analytics. As such we are looking for candidates with an aptitude and interest in developing in these areas alongside the more traditional engineering skills.

You'll help us to deliver effective solutions and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. This can vary from early concept and scheme designs; to the detailed design delivery of calculations, models and specifications; to the assessment and refurbishment of major bridge crossings.
