The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive HR Generalist to join our EU People Team. This role offers the opportunity to support and drive the alignment of human resources priorities with Arup’s business strategy and culture by delivering comprehensive and sustainable human resources programs.
As HR Generalist at Arup, you will:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime in compliance with Italian labour laws.
- Manage payroll tax reporting and ensure compliance with Italian tax regulations, including INPS (National Institute for Social Security) and INAIL (National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work) contributions.
- Prepare and analyse payroll reports for management, providing insights into payroll costs, trends, and potential issues. Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of payroll data to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and other HR-related matters, providing clear and accurate information.
- Responsible for absence management (data collection, notifications, communication with employees, correspondence with health insurance companies).
- Responsible for HR transactions in HR system related to new hires, change of status, employee benefits, certificates, training, employment contracts and termination of employment for efficient processing between HR, Facilities and IT.
- Benefit Champion in supporting for our benefits enrolment and deregistration, communication with employees, correspondence with cooperation partners and long-term development of our benefits offering.
- Coordinate the induction plans and activities, and follow-up of new hires to guarantee a smooth onboarding in cooperation with Talent Acquisition.
- Work closely with various departments to understand and meet their needs (Legal, Finance, Talent Acquisition, Facilities, IT).

We also value:
- +6 years of professional experience in HR or in a comparable position (Payroll management).
- Master’s degree in human resources, business administration or closely related field.
- Good knowledge of Italian labour and social security law, or a strong interest in these topics.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, as well as experience with Zucchetti and Oracle.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy, ensuring the elevation and preservation of Arup values and culture.
- Knowledge of/experience in cross-function organisation and/or consulting company desirable.
- Fluent in Italian and English.
