The Opportunity
You will be part of our Structural team to work closely with our senior engineers on an expanding portfolio of
projects across a variety of sectors.
You will apply your knowledge and experience in Structural engineering across a variety of multi-disciplinary
projects to shape our projects and continue to bring innovation in our work for successful design outcomes.
You will play a hands-on role in all stages of our projects from feasibility through to completion on diverse
assignments, across a number of sectors, including your involvement in the production of design information,
undertaking of surveys and site stage investigations of minor structural projects.
You will be required to work closely with other technical disciplines (both internal and external to Arup) to
deliver high quality services for successful design outcomes while integrating sustainable principles into
projects.
You will play a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase
our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital
approach to design.
You will be expected to be conversant with AutoCAD, Revit and BIM modelling by using our self-learning
tools on SharePoint and/or support from the team.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for someone with the following:
Interpreting client’s requirements in order to produce sustainable, efficient and cost-effective designs as
part of an overall Structural Engineering Solution.You will work under limited supervision with full autonomy within a defined area of responsibility, while
taking a leading role in tasks and activities. This may include being responsible for specific parts of an
external design project. This includes all aspects of a project from scheme stage to the final details.
Engineering designs will include reports, letters, calculations, drawings and specifications. You shall be
expected to organise and plan your time so that agreed deadlines are met.All documentation produced is to be checked for errors and omissions by yourself, prior to going through
Arup’s internal review and checking process where appropriate. Engineering designs will include reports,

that agreed deadlines are met.You will be expected to collaborate with other construction professionals and specialist designers as and
when required in order to integrate the structural engineering deliverables into an overall coordinated BIM
model.You may be required as workload dictate to delegate work to the CAD/BIM technician(s) who will act as
support and you will be responsible to provide the relevant information, in sufficient detail and relative to
project program to the CAD/BIM technician allowing for the production of drawings in a timely manner.Collaborating with other discipline engineers for successful design outcomes on projects within budget and
programme expectations.Carry out site inspections as and when required, attend site meetings and communicating with clients to
establish their needs. The review of the works on site forms a critical element in your duties, the aim is to
ensure that the contractor is executing the works in accordance with the design, drawings and good
construction practice. Including the co-ordination of engineering design with external parties such as
project managers, quantity surveyors and contractors.Support other engineers across multiple projects as and when required and contributing to business
development activities, including contributing to bids preparation as and when required.You may be placed on site at stages during your employment including overseas projects.
We expect you to act independently to investigate solutions, you will explore options, work closely with
your team leader and/or project managers to develop and communicate design solutions.More generally, as part of our team, we would be looking for you to interact with the team beyond projects,
attend our infrastructure and larger group meetings, fostering good communication and sharing of ideas
and knowledge with your team members.Awareness, observation and comply with office procedures and standards, and legislative requirements
governing workplace behaviour including Arup Values and the Arup Behaviour Charter and standard (e.g.,
health, safety and wellbeing, sexual harassment, bullying, discriminating behaviour, etc).
