Graduate Structural BIM Modeller
🔍 Netherlands
Sir Ove Arup, the founder of our company, was known as 'the philosopher engineer'. He did not settle for conventions. His mission was to find inventive solutions, produce work of the highest quality, and shape a better and more sustainable world. His ethos of ‘Total Architecture’, implying work of quality can only be achieved when all design decisions have been considered, set the foundation for Arup to grow into the leading multi-disciplinary global engineering, design, and consultancy firm it is today.
Arup is an independent, employee-owned firm of designers, engineers, consultants, and specialists operating in 35 countries worldwide. Working across disciplines and drawing on diverse voices is an essential part of who we are. The projects we work on push expectations of what is possible and focus on producing highly sustainable, safe, inclusive, resilient buildings, infrastructure, and cities. We are a humane organisation that cares deeply about our clients, each other, and the impact of our work. For over 80 years we have nurtured pioneers and original thinkers, becoming a welcome home for the creative and ambitious.
To expand our buildings team, we are looking for a graduate structural BIM modeller who would like to contribute to high-quality, well-coordinated BIM models for challenging building projects in the Netherlands.
In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of projects, from residential towers and office buildings to data centres. You will independently undertake structural modelling work across different project stages and, as part of the design team, help develop a consistent, reliable, and fully coordinated BIM model in collaboration with the other disciplines.
As a Structural BIM Modeller, you will be responsible for:
- Setting up and developing structural BIM models, including drawings that comply with the applicable standards and requirements.
- Checking your own work and reviewing modelling work completed by others.
- Using the BIM model for various purposes, such as cost estimation, analysis, and presentation materials.
Essential Requirements
- A completed degree from a Dutch University of applied sciences (HBO) or research university (TU) in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related built-environment discipline, preferably with a structural focus, together with a sound technical foundation.
- Good knowledge of Revit Structure and experience setting up and developing structural BIM models.
- One to three years of experience as a Structural BIM Modeller on projects in the Netherlands, covering stages from concept design through tender documentation and construction.
- Experience with BIM coordination software such as Solibri and/or Navisworks.
- Good spoken and written proficiency in both Dutch and English.
- Experience with Dynamo, Grasshopper, and software development would be advantageous.
- An interest in parametric design and bidirectional links between BIM and analytical software would be advantageous.
At Arup, you will be part of an extraordinary collective where individuality is encouraged.
