Arup’s international fire engineering team comprises more than 300 engineers and specialists dedicated to protecting people, properties, assets, and operations. We work closely with our clients to tailor solutions specifically to each project, balancing code compliance, design innovation, sustainability, functionality, cost, and fire performance. Our team of experts are experienced in fire safety system designs, existing conditions assessments, life safety systems, and other fire engineering services, including conceptual advice through detailed analyses in the areas of performance-based design, hazard and risk assessment, fire effects and smoke movement modelling, and analysis of structural fire resistance. 

The opportunity

  • Provide consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance
  • Contribute to the development of prescriptive and performance-based design strategies
  • Assist with development of fire alarm, detection, and fire suppression systems design documents
  • Assist senior engineers on project site visits and communicate with architects, contractors and consulting teams
  • Participate in internal team meetings and external client meetings

Is this role right for you?    

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fire Engineering/Protection, Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering  
  • Proficiency in Computational fluid dynamics modeling, Egress calculations, Sprinkler hydraulic calculations, Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • Professional demeanor  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Skills in planning and organizing  
  • Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn  


To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your cv/resume and meet the following criteria:

  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future  
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.

Boston Hiring Range – Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Boston is $76,500 to $83,500 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Boston will differ.
