Graduate Fire Engineer

A career at Arup offers you the chance to make a positive difference in the world. Independently owned and independently minded, Arup is the creative force at the heart of many of the world’s most prominent projects in the built environment. When you join Arup, you immediately become part of our global community working on some of the world’s most recognised projects.

Dedicated to sustainable development, Arup is a collective of advisors and experts working across 140 countries. Founded to be both humane and excellent, we collaborate with our clients and partners using imagination, technology and rigour to shape a better world.

From residential buildings to railway stations; schools and offices to industrial buildings; fire engineering is an essential part of multidisciplinary design. Our ‘Total Fire Engineering’ approach allows us to work with clients and design teams from start to finish, helping us understand their goals, visions and constraints; and then develop innovative solutions to meet these challenges.

However, we don’t achieve our reputation through good design and high standards alone. To stay at the cutting edge of fire safety, we utilise our strong links with academia and Arup’s proud record of research and development to build on our understanding of fire dynamics, human behaviour and structural response. By striving for an ever-greater understanding of fire, we continue to push the boundary of what fire engineering can do.

Your responsibilities:

  • Developing general fire strategies for various building types and at various stages.
  • The application of performance-based fire engineering.
  • Carrying out fire safety site inspections and witnessing of systems throughout the construction phase of projects.
