This role will primarily focus in technical and commercial leadership in growing a profitable and viable Geotechnical Engineering business. The role is expected to lead project delivery successfully and develop local capabilities in the area of Geotechnical Engineering consultancy. Skills will include the planning and delivery of geotechnical design for multi-disciplinary buildings and infrastructure projects, incorporating drawings and reporting. You will have the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external clients including various government departments, contractors and others.
The Opportunity
• Responsible for contributing to the current and future overall performance of the Group and Geotechnical Design Discipline, and its impact to the firm. This will require you to undertake business development activities and project/design management for various Geotechnical design projects in Malaysia and abroad.
• You will be responsible for leading the Geotechnical Design discipline, acting as a QP and design manager, developing local capabilities and managing design teams.
• Required to work collaboratively with other groups within the Office, Australasia Region and the broader Arup Group in the effective pursuit, conduct and resourcing of projects as well as to provide input into Arup global skills networks within the geotechnical engineering area.
• Responsible for leading the development, design and management of geotechnical inputs to small to large, complex multidisciplinary projects. This will involve coordinating people, facilities and resources within agreed timelines and in accordance with budgetary constraints.
• Lead contribution to recruitment, appraisals, performance development, morale and motivation of staff. You will look to effectively manage, motivate and develop employees and contribute to the capability development of the team.

Is this role right for you?
• Minimum of 12 years of professional experience.
• Registered PEPC in the field of Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) under the Board of Engineers, Malaysia.
• Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) or similar.
• Relevant Geotechnical experience within a consulting business environment with proven track record and successful delivery of civil master planning and major infrastructure projects.
• Substantial knowledge of the local marketplace, including critical issues and a sound client network.
