We're looking for a talented Geospatial Developer to join our Digital team in Cardiff. You'll join an unrivalled community of experts from your first day, where everyone is supported in their career path. 

You will be joining a technical delivery team with a varied and potentially challenging workload. You may be working on a wide variety of projects of global and national importance, such as CERN, HS2, EV Planning and other major infrastructure, strategic and master planning, research, and environmental reviews, working with the existing Digital team and other Arup specialists.

What you'll be doing

Tasks could include database scheme definition and management, data visualisations, user interface development, code/programs to automate workflows, understanding spatial data structures (including 3D), and development. The management and maintenance of web platforms, requirement gathering and process mapping, liaison with internal and external clients, exposure to emerging technologies and many other analytical and development related tasks. 

What we look for 

We're looking for candidates with curiosity, personal drive and technical know-how. You will be an innovative problem solver who can communicate ideas and solutions. You should have a positive and forward-thinking approach and enjoy working as part of a friendly and supportive team. Your workload will be diverse, and the ability to multi-task and manage your workload is essential. You will be keen to learn and develop your skills as you gain experience in new work areas. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of (or willingness to learn about) the Geospatial and engineering sector and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we'd like to hear from you. 

You should have technical experience acquired from a previous role(s) or academic qualification in a relevant subject such as GIS/Spatial Analysis, Computer Science, Software Development and Information Technology.

You will have technical expertise in GIS and a sound understanding of data management and software development. You should be able to develop and implement web GIS software utilising the following architecture, ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal and Server. We want someone with experience in Javascript libraries such as ESRI, three.JS, cesium, leaflet, or OpenLayers. We want someone with specific expertise utilising ESRI ArcSDE and MS SQL Server and the definition and creation of database schemas and relationships. Then the management of these through project delivery. Understanding spatial data types and structures with extensive 2D and 3D data and environments would be beneficial.

You should have experience in authoring code to automate processes and workflows. Particularly with knowledge of Python libraries such as arcpy. Strong analytical capabilities would be an advantage, including ArcGIS Network, Spatial and 3D analyst, and we'd like you to have experience with ArcGIS Pro. 

You will be involved in assisting the existing digital team with an expanding workload and offering complementary and new skills to grow this area of work. You'll also have the experience to pass on your knowledge and expertise to more junior team members. If this sounds like something that could interest you, please get in touch.
