Job Title: General Buildings Assistant Project Manager
Location: London

Overview:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our established and growing Buildings business covering numerous sectors.  You will be part of a diverse collaborative team responsible for the successful delivery of our project and programme management commissions throughout the lifecycle for our major clients. 

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager with excellent technical knowledge and experience to join us and become an integral part of our London based team.  You will bring a desire to deliver meaningful work with successful outcomes for our clients through innovative solutions. 
The role of a Buildings Assistant Project Manager will be to support the successful delivery of complex strategic and operational projects using best practice PPM knowledge and advisory skills.  Your typical activities will include: 

  • Providing day-to-day support to the Project Manager or project management team and/or contract administrator on a complex project as part of a project or programme team
  • Working as part of a team to deliver commissions to a high standard of quality, and client satisfaction 
  • Identifying and mitigating reputational and commercial risks to Arup 
  • Helping find new work opportunities with current and new clients, developing client relationships and working on bids.

Technical Skills and Experience:

You will be able to demonstrate your understanding, skill, and experience in the following areas: 

  • An interest in working on Buildings projects in any sector including Commercial, Science & Industry, Heathcare and Education and two to three years of transferable or actual Buildings Projects work experience. 
  • Knowledge of project and / or programme management. 
  • Experience of being part of a team managing smaller low risk projects and / or programmes and be able to demonstrate how your contributions made a difference. 
  • Able to assess real world project scenarios in line with your experience and plan a course of action that will deliver the required project outcomes. 
  • An ability to get things done through others. 
  • Having a network of professional peers.
  • Ability to apply a range of digital tools to improve day to day efficiency. 

You will also be able to demonstrate one or more of the following: 

  • Involvement in the management of projects delivering digitally enabled improvements. 
  • Involvement in the provision of Advisory services to clients. 
  • An awareness of the objectives of sustainable development. 

People Skills:

You will be able to demonstrate to following people skills: 

  • A good personal fit with the corporate values of Arup. 
  • Collaborative working exhibiting behaviours that are more altruistic than egoistic. 
  • Not asking permission to lead while seeking buy-in and respecting the needs for proper governance. 
  • Confident communicator both written and verbal. 
  • A proven ability to influence peers and managers. 
  • Self-Aware; understanding your own development areas and biases. 
  • Aware of own impact on others and shows behaviours that support equality, diversity, and inclusion. 

Technical Skills and Qualifications 

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent 
  • An interest in becoming a chartered professional in relevant profession 
  • An interest in achieving professional qualifications in Project and Programme Management e.g., APM PFQ & PMQ
