Joining Arup

Dedicated to sustainable development, Arup is a collective of advisors and experts working across 34 countries with over 19,000 employees. Headquartered in London, providing design engineering, architecture, planning, and advisory services across every aspect of the built environment. Founded to be both humane and excellent, we collaborate with our clients and partners using imagination, technology, and rigour to shape a better world.

The Finance Systems team is responsible for functionally supporting the multiple systems used by Arup Finance globally and in delivering a strategic change program to enhance our system capabilities across Finance to help deliver the wider Global Finance Vison.

This role is critical in supporting the Group Head of Finance Systems in ensuring our wide user base can get the best out of our systems, delivering functional support, considered governance and effective controls in a modern and efficient manner.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring multiple Finance Systems Accounting Analysts to join our global Finance Systems team. This team supports key financial platforms and leads strategic initiatives to enhance system capabilities in line with Arup’s Global Finance Vision.

In this role, you'll support the Group Head of Finance Systems by delivering functional support, effective governance, and modern controls that help our users get the most from our systems.

You’ll work across a range of platforms—including ERP (JDE), Concur, Infor Timesheets, Jaggaer, TIS and FIS treasury systems, payroll solutions, and internal finance tools—focusing on a subset while contributing to the broader finance ecosystem

Is This Role Right for You?

We’re looking for individuals with a solid understanding of Finance systems and a genuine interest in how they function across different areas of Finance. You should have experience working in a Finance environment and an appreciation of how finance processes, reporting requirements, and systems interact to support organisational needs.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience from a complex international setting and demonstrate the ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and translate insights into meaningful action. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside effective organisational abilities to balance conflicting priorities and deadlines.

This role calls for a collaborative mindset and sound judgement. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to develop training materials, communications, and reports to support change management initiatives. You’ll need to tailor your approach using experience-based insight while building trusted relationships across the organisation.

Flexibility and adaptability are key in a dynamic, evolving environment. Clear communication—whether written, verbal, or presentational—is crucial, particularly when reporting progress or resolving issues with impacted stakeholders. Supporting your teammates and contributing to timely project delivery will be an important part of your day-to-day.

A strong customer focus will help you engage effectively with both business and IT colleagues. If you also hold (or are working toward) an accounting qualification or have experience in Finance system administration, that would be a definite plus.

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in ensuring our platforms run smoothly, evolve thoughtfully, and serve the needs of users across the business by,

Functional Support

  • Respond to user queries and troubleshoot issues

  • Collaborate on new developments and lead/support UAT activities

  • Design solutions based on user requirements, aligned to strategic goals

  • Deliver user training and contribute to ongoing process improvement

    Governance & Control

  • Maintain documentation and change control across systems

  • Monitor regulatory shifts and assess their impact on systems

  • Manage access controls and ensure consistent, accurate data

  • Define and maintain data structures and hierarchies

    General Contribution

  • Triage incoming queries and direct them appropriately

  • Track and prioritise requests, keeping stakeholders informed

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and manage expectations

  • Use standard tools to report on progress and tackle challenges

  • Support wider initiatives led by the Group Head of Finance Systems
