Our Boston office is seeking a Facade Engineer. This individual will be responsible for the detailing of facades, running related analyses, materials and systems research, and coordinating project work with the team.
You will use your talent and experience to dovetail facade engineering into multidisciplinary design projects while learning and continuing to develop your career. Your work will span across a variety of projects, from historic landmarked buildings to high performing new developments and one-off special structures.
The opportunity
- Coordinate facade concepts and ideas into a structured format using sketches, documentation, design journals, data sheets, and analytical reports for discussions with architects and clients.
- Undertake facade related engineering calculations with various materials, including glass, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, stone and precast concrete
- Produce details and drawings using various 2D and 3D CAD and graphics packages;
- Produce specifications and technical reports
- Perform technical reviews of shop drawings and construction administration submittals to ensure air, water, thermal, seismic, acoustic and structural performance
- Witnessing performance mockup testing of facade systems
- Carrying out factory visits, site inspections and preparing associated technical reports
- Coordinating work with professionals of other fields
- Communicating with clients to establish their needs, and maintaining a dialogue throughout the project
Is this role right for you?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- A minimum 2 years of experience in the facade industry with emphasis on detailing and structural engineering
- Technical and design skills to communicate thoughts and ideas related to building envelope design and detailing
- Experience with a variety of systems and material
- Familiarity with building codes
- Experience with structural analysis packages
- Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to understand the balance of priorities on differing projects
- Ability to develop and maintain successful client relationships
- Planning and organizational skills

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job performed in Boston is $78,000 to $91,000 per year. Benefits are not included in the base salary range. Summary of benefits are included in this posting with details provided to applicants at the time of interview. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Boston will differ.
