Joining Arup

Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

Our Ground Engineering business combines expertise in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, geo-environmental, tunnelling and infrastructure delivery to provide practical and sustainable solutions for complex ground challenges.

We support projects across the UK, working within Transportation, Energy, Water & Resources (EWR), and Property, Science & Industry (PS&I). Our portfolio includes major infrastructure programmes, ground investigations, foundations, earthworks, tunnelling, slope engineering, retaining structures, contaminated land, offshore developments and climate resilience projects.

By combining technical excellence with innovative thinking and multidisciplinary collaboration, we help clients manage ground-related risks, improve project outcomes and create lasting value for communities and the environment.

As our project portfolio continues to expand, we are particularly interested in professionals who can contribute across the project lifecycle, from feasibility and site investigation through design, construction and operational support.

We welcome interest from professionals with experience in:

•    Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology
•    Geo-environmental Engineering / Science
•    Ground Investigation and Site Characterisation
•    Tunnelling and Underground Structures

What We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from candidates with a combination of the following skills and experience:

•    A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Environmental Sciences or a related discipline.
•    Chartered status, or progress towards professional registration
•    Experience in one or more areas including geotechnical design, engineering geology, contaminated land, foundations, earthworks, slopes, tunnelling or offshore geotechnics.
•    Experience delivering projects throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
•    The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and coordinate technical interfaces.
•    Knowledge of relevant UK and international standards, guidance and industry best practice.
•    Experience planning, supervising or interpreting ground investigations.

We recognise that valuable experience can be gained through different career paths. If your background aligns with Ground Engineering and you are interested in future opportunities with Arup, we encourage you to register your interest.

At Arup, you will be part of a collaborative community where diverse perspectives are valued, individuality is encouraged and everyone has the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that benefits our clients, communities and society.
