We are seeking an experienced senior environmental professional to provide technical leadership and delivery oversight for Arup’s Environmental and Social Advisory projects across Southeast Asia. This is a lead role and will suit someone who is recognised for their expertise in Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Environmental and Social Due Diligence and Environmental and Social Compliance, and who is motivated by delivering high-quality outcomes for clients, communities and the environment. Preferably based in Manila, with flexibility to be located elsewhere in Southeast Asia for the right candidate, you will work closely with regional Environment, Climate and Sustainability (ECS) portfolio specialists and Arup’s global networks to guide complex project work, strengthen delivery capability and lead the continued growth of our E&S Advisory services. Business development, client engagement and thought leadership will form an important secondary focus, supporting the expansion of our market presence while keeping technical delivery at the centre of the role.

The Opportunity

  • Provide senior technical oversight for the delivery of Environmental and Social Advisory projects across Southeast Asia, with a focus on 
  • Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Environmental and Social Due Diligence and Environmental and Social Compliance.
     
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality, commercially sound outcomes for clients, drawing on regional ECS specialists and Arup’s global networks where required.
     
  • Act as a technical expert on relevant Environmental and Social Advisory Services projects, supporting the review, management and delivery of project work aligned to client needs, regulatory requirements and international good practice.
     
  • Contribute to the growth of Arup’s Environmental and Social Advisory offering in Southeast Asia by identifying suitable market opportunities, supporting client engagement and helping shape localised service offerings.
     
  • Support business development as a secondary focus through targeted proposals, presentations, industry engagement and thought leadership that reinforce Arup’s technical credibility and delivery capability.
     

Is this role right for you?

  • 15 years or more of professional experience within chosen industry or field, with a strong preference for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), 
  • Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and E&S Due Diligence (E&S-DD). 
     
  • Demonstrated evidence in business and markets in Southeast Asia, particularly in business development, strategic partnerships and building client relationships in relation to E&S Advisory and ECS more widely.
     
  • Proven experience in a consulting and advisory environments.
     
  • Proven experience in developing teams and business areas.
     
  • Recognised as an expert within chosen industry or field, with expertise in EIA, ESIA, E&S-DD.
     
  • Knowledge applying international ECS standards relevant to chosen industry or field (e.g. ADB, IFC, World Bank, EDGE, LEED etc.)
